Movies shouldn’t cost more than $25M

I was shocked to learn how small the budgets are for Wes Anderson movies. Even though The Grand Budapest Hotel is extremely lush and visually exciting, they were able to shoot it for only $25M. Same with Asteroid City. That’s like the same cost of shooting a run-of-the-mill Netflix flick with a couple of stars an no real production design. When I see how other filmmakers like Yorgos Lanthimos can shoot Poor Things on $35M, it is hard to see a reason why any movie (other than super special epics) would ever need to cost more than that.
